🌽 Sweet Corn Bread Recipe

This Sweet Corn Bread is soft, moist, and just the right amount of sweet — perfect with chili, BBQ, or enjoyed on its own with a pat of butter and drizzle of honey.


🕒 Prep Time: 10 minutes

🔥 Bake Time: 25–30 minutes

🍽️ Servings: 9 squares (1 8×8 pan)


📝 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional, for added sweetness)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line an 8×8 baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, eggs, oil, and honey.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until just combined — don’t overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

✅ Tips:

  • For extra richness, swap half the milk with buttermilk.
  • Add corn kernels, shredded cheese, or jalapeños for variation.
  • Serve warm with honey butter or alongside chili or fried chicken.

🧊 Storage:

  • Room Temp: Store in an airtight container up to 2 days.
  • Fridge: Keeps for 5–6 days.
  • Freezer: Wrap tightly and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw and warm before serving.
