🍠 Hasselback Maple Pecan Sweet Potatoes

These Hasselback Maple Pecan Sweet Potatoes are a show-stopping side dish that’s both elegant and comforting. Crispy edges, tender centers, and a sweet, buttery glaze with crunchy pecans make them perfect for holidays or special dinners!

🕒 Prep Time: 10 minutes

⏳ Bake Time: 50–60 minutes

🍽️ Servings: 4

📝 Ingredients:

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • Optional: a pinch of nutmeg or brown sugar for extra depth

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Place each sweet potato between two wooden spoons or chopsticks. Slice into thin, even cuts (⅛–¼ inch apart), stopping before cutting all the way through.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Brush the sweet potatoes generously with the maple butter mixture, getting into the slices as best as possible.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, brushing with more maple butter halfway through, until tender and edges are crisp.
  6. Sprinkle with toasted pecans and return to oven for 5 more minutes.
  7. Drizzle with extra maple syrup before serving if desired.

✅ Tips:

  • Use a pastry brush to get maple butter deep into the slices.
  • Par-cook in the microwave for 3–5 minutes if short on time.
  • Add a sprinkle of goat cheese or feta before serving for a savory twist.

🧊 Storage:

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in oven to restore crisp edges.
