Here’s a cozy, classic comfort side dish — Easy Pan-Fried Potatoes and Onions! 🥔🧅 Golden, crispy edges, soft centers, and that savory, caramelized onion flavor make this a go-to with breakfast, dinner, or any hearty meal.

🥔 Easy Pan-Fried Potatoes and Onions

🍽️ Servings: 4

🕒 Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 25–30 mins

Flavor: Savory, lightly sweet, buttery

Texture: Crispy outside, tender inside

📝 Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ tsp paprika, garlic powder, or chopped fresh herbs

🔥 Directions

  1. Parboil the potatoes (optional but recommended):
Add diced potatoes to boiling water and cook for 5 minutes, then drain. This helps them cook faster and get crispier in the pan.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add potatoes in a single layer and let them cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes to develop a golden crust.
  4. Stir occasionally, then add onions after about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and any spices.
  5. Continue frying, stirring occasionally, for another 10–15 minutes, until potatoes are crispy and onions are caramelized.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite main dish, eggs, or even tucked into breakfast burritos!

💡 Tips & Notes

  • For extra crisp, don’t overcrowd the pan — use a large skillet or cook in batches.
  • Want them even more golden? Finish with a knob of butter in the last 2 minutes.
  • Add bacon bits, cheddar cheese, or even a fried egg on top for a full meal.

❄️ Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet to keep them crispy or microwave for a softer texture.
