Ingredients:

  • Cherry or grape tomatoes
  • Fresh mozzarella balls (mini)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Balsamic glaze or balsamic reduction
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Wooden skewers

How to Make Caprese Skewers:

  1. Prepare Ingredients:
  • Wash the cherry or grape tomatoes.
  • Drain the fresh mozzarella balls.
  • Pick fresh basil leaves.
  1. Assemble Skewers:
  • Thread one cherry tomato onto the skewer, followed by a mozzarella ball and a fresh basil leaf.
  • Repeat the pattern until the skewer is filled, leaving some space at each end for easy handling.
  1. Arrange Skewers:
  • Place the assembled Caprese skewers on a serving platter.
  1. Drizzle with Olive Oil:
  • Lightly drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the skewers.
  1. Season with Salt and Pepper:
  • Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the skewers to enhance the flavors.
  1. Balsamic Glaze:
  • Drizzle balsamic glaze or balsamic reduction over the skewers for a sweet and tangy finish.
  1. Serve:
  • Arrange the Caprese skewers on a serving platter and serve immediately.

Expert Tips:

  • Soak Skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before assembling to prevent them from burning during grilling.
  • Customize: Get creative by adding other ingredients like olives or a drizzle of pesto for additional flavor.
  • Presentation: Arrange the skewers on a bed of fresh arugula for an elegant presentation.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the skewers in advance, but drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze just before serving to keep them fresh.
