1. Make patties:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined. Form into 4–6 patties.
2. Sear the patties:
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the patties for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside (they don’t need to be cooked through yet).
3. Make the gravy:
