Short on time? Skip the searing and add the beef directly to the slow cooker. The dish remains delicious, even without this step.
Cooking Instructions:
- Ingredients:
- 2 pounds beef strips
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons flour (for thickening)
- Steps:
- Optionally, sear beef strips in a hot pan; then transfer to the slow cooker.
- Add onions, garlic, mushrooms, beef broth, and Dijon mustard to the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix flour with water and stir into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
- Stir in sour cream just before serving.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Thickening Tip:
Create a smooth paste with 2 tablespoons of flour and water to thicken the sauce. Stir this into the slow cooker 30 minutes before serving.
Storage:
Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan or microwave.
