Here’s a timeless, silky-smooth dessert that’s straight from grandma’s kitchen — Old-Fashioned Custard Pie! It’s rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced with a delicate texture that melts in your mouth. 🥧✨

🥧 Old-Fashioned Custard Pie

🍽️ Cuisine: Classic American

🥘 Dish Type: Dessert

🌟 Flavor Profile: Creamy, lightly sweet, hint of nutmeg

🍴 Servings: 8

⏱️ Total Time: ~1 hour (15 min prep, 45 min bake)

📝 Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups whole milk (warmed slightly)
  • Ground nutmeg, for topping

🔥 Directions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Make Custard Filling:
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Slowly whisk in warmed milk until smooth.
  3. Assemble:
Place your pie crust in a pie dish. Pour the custard mixture into the crust. Sprinkle the top lightly with ground nutmeg.
  4. Bake:
Carefully transfer to the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is just set and a knife inserted comes out clean. The center may jiggle slightly — that’s okay!
  5. Cool & Serve:
Cool completely at room temperature, then chill in the fridge. Serve cold or room temp — both are delish!

✅ Tips & Notes:

  • Use whole milk for the creamiest texture.
  • A light dusting of cinnamon can be used instead of nutmeg if preferred.
  • Let the pie cool fully before slicing to ensure clean cuts.
