Here’s a fresh, crunchy, and creamy Amish Broccoli Salad — a classic side dish made with crisp broccoli, bacon, cheese, and a sweet tangy dressing. Perfect for potlucks, BBQs, or a make-ahead lunch!

🥦 Amish Broccoli Salad

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Chill Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: ~45 minutes
Servings: 6–8

📝 Ingredients:

For the salad:

  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 2 small heads)
  • ½ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds or slivered almonds
  • Optional: ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries

For the dressing:

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Salt & pepper to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine broccoli, onion, cheese, bacon, seeds/nuts, and dried fruit (if using).
  3. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  5. Toss again before serving and enjoy cold!

✅ Tips:

  • For softer broccoli, blanch it briefly in boiling water, then shock in ice water.
  • Add cubed ham or hard-boiled eggs to make it heartier.
  • Lighten it up by using Greek yogurt in place of some mayo.

🧊 Storage:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Best eaten fresh as it may lose crunch over time.
