Here’s a cozy and timeless dessert that never goes out of style: Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp 🍎✨ With tender, cinnamon-spiced apples and a golden oat topping, it’s everything comfort food should be — simple, sweet, and perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

🥣 Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Bake Time: 40–45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings: 6–8

📝 Ingredients:

🍏 For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 cups peeled, sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

🍯 For the Crisp Topping:

  • ¾ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • Pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch (or similar) baking dish.
  2. Prepare apples:
Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Make the topping:
In a bowl, mix oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Assemble:
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
  6. Cool slightly and serve warm — preferably with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!

✅ Tips:

  • Use cold butter for a crumbly, crisp topping.
  • Try adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for crunch.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle caramel sauce over the top before serving.

📌 Storage & Reheating:

  • Store covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10–15 minutes for best texture.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months — thaw overnight and warm before serving.
