🍫 Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake

Here’s a rich, decadent, and ultra-fudgy Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake — with a chewy brownie-like crust and a creamy, gooey chocolate center. It’s ridiculously easy to make and dangerously delicious!


🍫 Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake

📝 Ingredients:

Bottom layer (cake base):

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Top layer (gooey filling):

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix cake mix, melted butter, and egg until combined and dough-like. Press into the bottom of the prepared dish to form an even layer.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar, and mix well.
  4. Slowly add melted butter and beat until creamy. Stir in chocolate chips, if using.
  5. Pour the gooey filling over the base layer and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes. The center should be slightly jiggly and gooey — do not overbake.
  7. Cool slightly before cutting. Serve warm or at room temperature.

  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for next-level indulgence.
  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce before serving.
  • For extra richness, add a handful of nuts or toffee bits to the filling.
