Here’s a cleaner, family-friendly take on a classic — Neat Sloppy Joes! All the sweet, tangy flavor you love, but less mess and perfect for weeknight dinners. 🍔✨

🍔 Neat Sloppy Joes

🍽️ Servings: 4–6

🕒 Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 15–20 min

📌 Sweet & Savory | Easy | Kid-Friendly

📝 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ⅓ cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4–6 burger buns or sandwich rolls
  • Optional: sliced cheese, pickles, or coleslaw for topping

🔥 Directions:

  1. Brown the meat:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until beef is browned and veggies are soft. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add sauce ingredients:
Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Simmer:
Reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
  4. Serve:
Spoon mixture onto toasted buns. Add toppings if desired — or scoop into a wrap or over rice for a fun twist!

✅ Tips & Notes:

  • For less mess, serve on slider buns or as open-faced sandwiches.
  • Make it healthier by using ground turkey or adding shredded carrots/zucchini.
  • Love heat? Add a dash of hot sauce or extra chili powder.

❄️ Storage:

  • Fridge: Store leftover meat mixture in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze: Cool and freeze in portions for up to 3 months. Reheat in skillet or microwave.
